Liverpool have apparently approached French side Lille with a view to signing their highly-rated young Belgian playmaker, Eden Hazard.

20 year old Hazard was yesterday named as the French league player of the year after a fantastic season where he guided Lille to their first title since 1954. Hazard is being courted by many of the world’s top clubs including Real Madrid, Arsenal and Inter Milan.

But it is Liverpool who have made the first move by asking Lille to keep them informed on any potential developments in Hazard’s future.

Speculation on the youngsters future will rumble on throughout the summer, but with Lille not prepared to let him go for any less than £25 million, it will be interesting to see which of Europe’s big clubs can afford to splash that amount of money.

Calciomercato (h/t Daily Mail) reports that Liverpool are leading the race for Cagliari star Nicolo Barella.

The report adds that the Reds are lining up a £31million bid with a number of clubs interested in the Italian.

The 21-year-old has made an impressive start to the season with one goal in four games. Juventus were interested in the midfielder but the report adds the club pulled out due to a high asking price.

Inter Milan and AC Milan are also keeping tabs on the 21-year-old, as per the report. Barella’s stock has been on the rise and the youngster made Italy’s squad for UEFA Nations League games during the international break.

Liverpool are blessed with a number of midfield options, meaning the Italian would face a lot of competition at Anfield.

We further have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain recuperating from a serious knee injury from last season. The Reds were one of the biggest spenders in the summer and it has seen us start the season in great fashion.

Barella would be an interesting signing as he would add more options for our attacking midfielder’s slot.

Liverpool target dreams of meeting NBA legend LeBron James

Cagliari youngster Nicolo Barella was linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer (h/t Express) and the youngster recently claimed that he prefers moving to the Premier League.

The attacking midfielder was speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Express) and further claimed that meeting LeBron James is a dream.

“Cagliari received offers and turned them down. I am happy to have remained with the club I support.

“If I had to choose between Serie A and the Premier League, I’d go for England, because I like the way they approach the game. Plus everyone there is just as irritable and prone to fouls as me!

“My dream is to get a nice house with a garden and a pool. And to meet LeBron James.”

The NBA legend has a 2% stake in Liverpool which he bought in 2011, as per the Express, and is considered one of the greatest players in the history of the game.

Barella has been one of the bright spots for Cagliari and scored six times for the club last season. The 21-year-old could be a decent signing if he comes on the cheap but there is immense competition for the midfield spots at Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp splashed money on Naby Keita and Fabinho this summer and we didn’t sell any of our first-team midfielders.

Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno

Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno

Barcelona are looking to raid the Premier League and solve their left-back problems. Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Mail) claims that the Catalan giants are looking at Alberto Moreno as one of the replacements for Lucas Digne.

The La Liga side sold Digne to Everton in the summer window and that has left them short of cover for Jordi Alba at the back.

The other player that Ernesto Valverde is keeping a tab on is Nacho Monreal of Arsenal and the report adds that the pair would become free agents in the summer.

Moreno’s place in the Liverpool team isn’t secure, given that Jurgen Klopp is known to prefer Andy Robertson as the left-back. The newly-appointed Scotland captain has been in brilliant form since last season and has replaced the Spaniard as our first-choice left-back.

Alberto Moreno

Liverpool signed Moreno from Sevilla in 2014 but the player has struggled to perform to his best.

The 26-year-old isn’t defensively sound but he is great in the attack, making him a decent option for Barcelona.

Moreno hasn’t made an appearance for us this season but we, like Barcelona, don’t have anyone else to cover Robertson should the Scot pick up an injury.

The Spaniard would be handy when we rest Robertson this season and if we are to sell him, we should first find a replacement for the former Sevilla man.

Barca have signed a number of Liverpool players in the past but Moreno joining the Catalans would be something.
