Liverpool have reportedly bid £8 million for Ipswich Town’s highly-rated young striker Conor Wickham.
Ipswich though, are apparently holding out for a fee in the region of £10 million and will reject Liverpool’s overtures. 18 year old Wickham played his first full season for Ipswich in the Championship last season scoring 8 goals. The 6ft 3in striker has been dubbed ‘the new Shearer’ because of his height and aerial ability.
Liverpool enquired about Wickham in the January transfer window but were put off by Ipswich’s £15 million price tag, but they have now returned with a concrete offer.
Wickham, who has been capped three times by the England under 21 team, may see this as a great opportunity to join one of the countries biggest clubs and if he decides to ask for a move Ipswich may be powerless to stop his departure.
