Daniel Agger looks to be staying at Liverpool for the foseable future. The Dane has only two years lef on his contract at Anfield which has aroused the media who have linked the Centre Back with moves to both Chelsea and Arsenal.
The defender had a brilliant Euro 2012 in which he led the stat for the most interceptions with 21, in the group stages. However now out of the Championships the 27-year-old has had a chance to squash any rumours about a departure from Mersyside.
Agger told Danish website, Sporten.dk: “It’s no secret that I’m happy to be in Liverpool. Otherwise, I would not have been there for six years.
“I have not discussed a new contract, but if they come with an offer I will surely sit down and talk with them.
“It’s not something that is urgent, for I have contract until 2014, but if they ask I will listen.”
Agger has become a Kop favourite in his time at Liverpool. Injuries have meant that Agger has only racked up 119 Liverpool appearances in his six years at the club, but season formed a solid partnership with Martin Skrtel in forming a defence that only leaked more goals that both the Manchester Clubs.
The Dane will be an important part of new manager Brendan Rodgers plans for the future of the club and Agger is allready looking forward to getting back for pre-season.
Agger said: “I am looking forward to meeting the new coach,” he added. “I’ve seen what he has done at Swansea, and it has been impressive.”
Liverpool need to get his contract sorted out otherwise we could be forced to sell for at a cut-price rate next summer in true Arsenal style.
