Liverpool Player Ratings vs. Swansea

Emre Can - Liverpool's best player vs Swansea
Emre Can – Liverpool’s best player vs Swansea

Liverpool continued their winning ways against Swansea at Anfield. It was Jurgen Klopp’s first league win at home for Liverpool. Liverpool always had a trouble beating teams in the premier league after their European matches, but this time they broke that bad record. It was an underwhelming performance but still 3 points is all that matters.

Simon Mignolet – 6

After making a very bad mistake against Bordeaux on Thursday, the Belgian had a very quiet night against Swansea. He did not have to make a single save.

Nathaniel Clyne – 7

Clyne continued his fine form and is Liverpool’s most consistent player. He was an attacking threat in the game and like always was solid defensively. He should be rested against Southampton on Wednesday.

Martin Skrtel – 6.5

Skrtel also did not nothing to do in the match. He was a solid performer against Manchester City last week, but this week he just ‘watched’ the majority of the game. He was booked for a wrong timed tackle.

Dejan Lovren – 7

He also had nothing much to do but it was a solid and confident performance by the Croatian. He will need to be consistent if he needs to keep his place in the starting eleven.

Alberto Moreno – 7

Like Clyne, he also continued his fine form under Klopp. He was not that much of an attacking threat but was solid defensively.

Emre Can – 8.5

Liverpool’s man of the match. He was solid and was amazing. He filled the gap left by the suspended Lucas Leiva. He should improve his passing though.

James Milner – 7

He took the penalty well. Two consecutive goals will help him gain confidence and find his form. He is slowly starting to settle at Liverpool. His work rate was not matched by anyone.

Adam Lallana – 5.5

He has been in fine form for Liverpool since Klopp’s arrival, but against Swansea he was not good. He looked tired and will need rest. His quick turns are still lovely to watch.

Roberto Firmino – 5

He put up a man of the match performance against Manchester City, but like Lallana he also was not good against Swansea. He started against Bordeaux and he must be tired. Firmino should be rested against Southampton.

Jordon Ibe – 6.5

He has been in fine form under Jurgen Klopp and he continued it against Swansea. He was Liverpool’s best attacking threat. He is not mature enough to hold down a spot in the starting eleven.

Christian Benteke – 5

Benteke’s limitations were again exposed against Swansea. He was poor and he was not able to do anything against the Swans.

Substitutes:

Jordan Henderson – 6.5

Did not have much time to make an impact, but his return is a great boost for Liverpool and Klopp.

Daniel Sturridge – 6.5

Like Henderson, he did not have much time to make an impact. There was a fear among the fans when the news came out that he was injured again last week, but all of them was happy to see him come on as a substitute against Swansea.

Kolo You’re – N/A
