Jurgen Klopp

European nights are back and Liverpool will be facing the German club, Augsburg, in the first leg of the Round of 32 of the Europa League. Liverpool will be playing Augsburg in Germany at the WWK Arena following their 6-0 thrashing of Aston Villa in the premier league and they will be looking to take the momentum forward. Liverpool are out of the FA Cup and Klopp now will be able to focus more on Europa League.

Will Klopp give the youngsters a chance? Here is Liverpool’s predicted line-up to face Augsburg on Thursday:

Goalkeeper – Simon Mignolet

Mignolet had a quiet game against Aston Villa, but did pretty good. He has been a subject of criticism this season and time is ticking for him. Danny Ward is waiting for a chance and Mignolet should be on his toes in order to keep his position.

Defenders – Nathaniel Clyne, Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho, Alberto Moreno

It is expected that Liverpool will be playing the same defence that played against Aston Villa. Nathaniel Clyne and Kolo Toure were on the score sheet for Liverpool and they will be high on confidence. Now that Liverpool are out of the FA Cup, they won’t need the rest. And Liverpool defence had nothing much on Sunday and they will be expecting a busier night against Augsburg. We might see Klopp giving a chance to Steven Caulker and Brad Smith.

Caulker joined Liverpool on loan this January. Even though he has not received much chances he has been good when on the pitch. He is waiting for a chance. Brad Smith has received praises recently for his fine performances in the cup. We might see Klopp dropping Moreno for Smith.

Midfielders – Lucas Leiva, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho

Lucas Leiva and Adam Lallana had slight injuries and were unavailable for team selection on Sunday, but both of them are expected to return to Liverpool’s starting line-up on Thursday. Emre Can was on the score sheet on Sunday but he is expected to be benched against Augsburg. Roberto Firmino, who has been key for Liverpool recently, is also expected to be on the bench and give way for Adam Lallana.

Philippe Coutinho returned from injury in style for Liverpool. His two great passes led to goals for Liverpool on Sunday. The Brazilian Magician is expected to continue in Liverpool’s starting line-up. Jordan Henderson and James Milner were solid against Aston Villa and they should continue in Liverpool’s midfield.

Striker – Divock Origi

Liverpool’s returning star, Daniel Sturridge, opened the account for Liverpool on Sunday and his return is a huge boost for Liverpool. However, Klopp might not risk him and overload him. He is expected to be benched. It looked like he had slight troubles with his hips, Liverpool will be hoping that it’s nothing serious. Divock Origi also returned from an injury for Liverpool and he too scored on his return to the premier league. His goal was well taken and he will be looking to take the momentum forward.

His movement as a striker is good and more playing time will bring the best out of him.
