Liverpool are looking to strengthen their attacking options and for that, they are planning to add Filip Kostic from Stuttgart in their wish-list for the summer transfer window. The Serbia international is currently valued at £24m by the German side and he would turn out to be a top notch signing if this deal turns out.

Who is Filip Kostic?

Kostic made his debut at the age of 17 for the Serbian side Radnicki and soon was a regular member of the squad in his first season with the club. He later went on to join the Dutch side FC Gronigen where he scored nine goals in his 34 appearances. After his successful season in the Eredivisie, he moved to Germany with the likes of VFB Stuttgart and he has managed to start for 23 games this season, scoring five goals and six assists. He has established himself as a winger and has showed his prowess across 3 different leagues.

Kostic is a brilliant winger with quick feet and great skills. He is known to have good dribbling abilities that make him a threat in the wider positions to most defenders. He is also known to have great crossing abilities and is compared by many to Arjen Robben. This is what FC Groningen director Fredi Bobic had to say about the youngster. “He is a young, technically capable player with an eye for goal and the potential to develop further. With him in the squad, we have a more varied attack.”

A fit at Anfield?

Liverpool do not have a winger with tremendous pace. The addition of Kostic would give Jurgen Klopp options on the wider parts of the pitch and would allow Coutinho to focus more on the center of the attacking midfield which is his favored position. The young Serbian could also fit in perfectly under Klopp’s system as the German believes in pressing attacking game and the winger can provide the much-needed width. He is a left-footed winger and he can certainly take up the right flank and team up with Nathaniel Clyne in getting those killer balls inside the box. He is also known to be a good goal-scorer and take those shots from outside the box. Liverpool can fuel in more attacking strength for the next season and Kostic might just be the player who can do his bit in bringing back the glory days at Anfield.
