According to the Spanish newspaper – Sport, It is reported that Liverpool have made a formal offer to the former Captain of Arsenal – Thomas Vermaelen. The left-footed Belgian defender who now plays for Barcelona has moved from the Premier League in 2014 despite all his injuries has managed a sale of €19m.
It is reported that Liverpool were the first to bid for Vermaelen however, they are not willing to pay more than 10m Euro, which is considered to be low according to Barca and they still expect to get more from the Reds.
Vermaelen has showed interest in moving back to the premier League and many club including Chelsea, West Ham has shown interest in bringing him back however the deal is not finalized by any of them.
Having made just 10 appearances this season due to his injuries, it is definitely a big gamble for any of these clubs. We can only hope that this 30-year-old defender will get to show some of his best skills and be more available for the coming season.
