Liverpool are on a hunt for a new Left Back after Alberto Moreno failed to put up consistent solid performances. The Spaniard who came to Liverpool two seasons ago has been inconsistent since his arrival. The 23 year old is very good going forward, but defensively he is weak. He has been exposed again and again by opposing players. His defensive positioning is poor and at times his tackles are rash. And due to all these reason, Liverpool are looking for a new Left Back who can be solid at the back and at the same time can provide attached King services.

Since the Liverpool fans are demanding the club to sign a new Left Back and also due to Alberto Moreno’s poor performance in the Europa League finals, the Media are linking Liverpool with almost every decent Left Back in Europe. Players like Jonas Hector, Ben Chilwell, Raphael Guerreiro, Jordan Amavi, etc. are being linked with Liverpool. And Arsenal’s Kieran Gibbs is also one such Left Back who is being linked with Liverpool at the moment.

We cannot be sure if there is any truth in what the media is telling, but we surely can discuss about the possibilities, right? Let’s see if Kieran Gibbs can be the solution for Liverpool’s Left Back problems.

Kieran James Ricardo Gibbs joined Arsenal’s under 18 side in 2004 at the age of 14. The 26 year old started his youth career at Wimbledon (now known as MK Don’s). After moving to Arsenal he regularly featured for the Arsenal U-18 side and Reserves team. He used to play as a left winger or as a central midfielder. In 2007, the English Left Back signed a professional contract with Arsenal and made his senior team debut for Arsenal in the same year in a League Cup match against Sheffield United. In the January transfer window of the year 2008 he agreed to move to Norwich City on loan.

In 2011, Arsene Wenger confirmed that Gibbs will be replacing Gael Clichy as Arsenal’s left back after the latter moved to Manchester City. He then scored his first goal for Asenal in the same year against Shrewsbury Town.

It was in 2013 that Arsenal signed Nacho Monreal who turned out to be a big competition for Gibbs. Slowly, Gibbs became the second option to Monreal and now he only gets limited playing time.

Gibbs is entering his peak age and he will need playing time in order to reach his highest potential. With that being said, Gibbs will be looking to move to another club and Liverpool could be a potential destination. Liverpool are on a look out for a Left Back who is solid at the back and at the same time provide attacking services.

Kieran Gibbs is known for his defensive contributions. He is a good tackler and also intercepts the ball well. Like most of the other Arsenal players, Gibbs is also a good passer of the ball and can create some goal scoring chances from the wings.

Gibbs, if moves to Liverpool, may not be preferred to Alberto Moreno, but he will be a very good competition for the Spaniard and it will help in bringing the best out of both the full backs. Overall, if Liverpool can get Gibbs for a fee of around 11-14 Million then Kieran Gibbs would be a good buy.
