Liverpool manager is observing the Copa America Cetenario competition keenly and that has led to speculations that he might be scouting the players.

Well, that can be a fact as we all are aware of the fact that the German gaffer is looking to bolster his squad in order to compete for the top honour. In his initial 8 months of management, he made it very clear that Liverpool would no longer be battling in the mid-table, but will be giving head to head battles to the top guns of the league.

Jurgen Klopp had the same player Rodgers had, but the German led them to Europa league final and that was the best example of his sheer brilliance. We all are aware that Klopp loves to groom the young talents and even the players love to work with him. To be perfectly clear here, Liverpool’s current squad needs an upgrade in many areas.

The major concern was to find a replacement for the error-prone shot stopper Simon Mignolet and the German did his job with perfection as he bought Loris Karius. Besides that, he has also completed the transfer of the center back Joel Matip and the midfielder Marko Grujic.

Now, almost every single fan is waiting to see how Jürgen Klopp will deal with the situation of Alberto Moreno. Many supporters wants him to be replaced, yet many believe that he is worthy of getting another chance.

Liverpool have been linked with a move to Leicester City’s left back Ben Chilwell, but are not willing to pay the asking price of the defender. Well, that’s a good approach by the Reds as paying that much of amount for the player who hasn’t played a single minute in a top league is totally not worth it.

Now, according to the reports Liverpool are now targeting Atlético Mineiro’s left back Douglas Santos. The 22-year-old is still an unknown figure in the industry, yet he is being chased by Barcelona and Valencia. He started his career with the Brazilian side Náutico before moving to Granada in 2013 and then for Atlético Mineiro in 2015.

The hard working Brazilian made 52 appearances for the side and scored 2 goals. Being a south American trait, Douglas possesses tricky feet and is capable of beating the opponents by his pace. He has a strong and muscular built that allows him to engage himself in the physical battles.

The major problem here would be his game time. It seems like Klopp is still unsure about Moreno’s future and they also have the Joe Gomez, who will be desperate to play in the starting XI after his long term injury woe.

Keeping three left backs and that too of around 20-22 years old might not be the thing Klopp would prefer to do. Buying Douglas will surely be a gamble, but he has his prospects. Many believe that Moreno could do better in the next season as he will be facing a stiff competition from Gomez. Douglas is a great player and is a hardworking individual, but if he is signed, either Moreno or Gomez will have to make way because that would be the only conclusion.
