robbie fowlerLiverpool legend Robbie Fowler recently spoke about the Reds’ performances and also stated which player would be most important for them this season. The former striker was in Abu Dhabi for a store launch of the Premier League side. He was speaking with Sport360 and stated what the target for the side would be this season.

“Liverpool should always have ambitions to finish as high up in the table as possible. We always want to finish in the Champions League places.

“It hasn’t really happened a few times in the past years for various reasons but I certainly think with the players we’ve got and the manager, we can do it. I’m confident that Liverpool will finish in the top four, anything beyond that would be a massive bonus.”

The former English striker also was excited seeing the side play. The energy and attacking input of the Reds has seen them become the top scorers in the league. Fowler, however, cautioned fans from getting ahead of themselves as there is a long way to go.

“They’re a joy to watch at the minute. They’re exciting, everyone’s scoring goals. They’ve had some great results.

But I don’t think anyone associated with the club will be getting carried away. We all know there’s a long way to go but it’s exciting times.”

A lot of praise for Jurgen Klopp

There really should have been no doubt about this. Fowler was all praise for the German manager and also stated that Sadio Mane would be the most important player for the Reds this season.

“Klopp’s bringing out the very best of the players. They’ve all chipped in with goals.

“[Philippe] Coutinho’s played well, [Daniel] Sturridge, when he’s played, has been a handful.

“The standout performer has been [Sadio] Mane. Hopefully, he’ll be the man to take us further up in the league.”

Big game up ahead for the Reds

The Merseyside club takes on Manchester United after the international break. And even though United have not been playing too well, Fowler did tip them to be in the running for the Premier League title.

“Manchester United have had a little bit of a blip in the last few games but under [Jose] Mourinho, he’ll get them playing well. If anyone finishes above City, they’ll probably win the league.”

The battle between two of the biggest clubs in England will be a joy to watch. Even though Liverpool have a few injury concerns, they should start as slight favourites. The only major concern would be Adam Lallana missing out on a place in the team due to injury.

Fowler certainly has his hopes high this season and with Jurgen Klopp finishing one year at Anfield, the best way to celebrate would be a victory over United. How many would bet against that?
