Liverpool’s star man Philippe Coutinho continues to be in the rumours of a move away from the Merseyside club. While a host of clubs have been linked with making a move for the 24-year-old Brazilian, French outlet Le10Sport have stated that the Reds have placed a £68 million tag on the attacker.

The move has been done to ensure that clubs don’t come asking for the former Inter Milan player. And it comes as no surprise that the Reds want to keep hold of their best player this season. While Coutinho has often been termed as inconsistent, that has been far from the truth this season.

The Brazilian has already scored four goals and provided four assists in the Premier League this season and his exploits have seen Liverpool stay on top of the standings, tied with Manchester City and Arsenal.

A major signing for the French champions

There have been a number of rumours stating that Coutinho is the target for PSG and the same French outlet claims the Ligue 1 champions have made the Liverpool attacker one of their priority signings for 2017.

PSG aren’t having the best of times in Ligue 1 and trail Nice for the top spot. The lack of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has hurt the side and even bringing in Unai Emery has not worked out as well as the side would have hoped.

The French club do have a lot of money to spend thanks to their tie with the Qatar and it would not be a surprise if they do think about purchasing Coutinho. The Brazilian’s fee would actually surpass that of Luis Suarez, who left for Barcelona, and would also make him one of the costliest players in the world.

Coutinho should stay put

This rumour does seem to be a bit baseless; after all, Coutinho recently signed a new deal to keep him in England till 2020. Not only that, the 24-year-old had also stated that he feels Liverpool is his home and isn’t thinking of moving anywhere else.

The one thing that PSG guarantees Coutinho more than Liverpool is the ability to win trophies. The Paris club are the defending champions of Ligue 1 and will be looking to wrap up another title this season as well, if they get things right. They will also be playing in the Champions League, unless a disaster strikes their team.

Liverpool have to keep hold of the talismanic Brazilian as losing him would not only weaken the side but also signal that they are a selling club. Coutinho’s form has been brilliant and he is working well in tandem with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. If the Brazilian does move away to France, he might find it difficult to adjust to another new country.

Coutinho is playing some incredible football and he probably shouldn’t let that go to waste and stick to Liverpool for the foreseeable future.
