Former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs might have won the Premier League 13 times in his career but supporting Liverpool was never going to be something that he could speak about. The Welshman would not even fathom to think that the Reds could win the Premier League but given the start to this season, there are a number of people who do believe the Merseyside club could break its duck.

The legend was speaking to Sky Sports and stated which player could be the key for the Reds in the league competition.

“Adam Lallana is a terrific player with good feet.

“I love the way he plays, how he links up and scores goals and think he could help Liverpool win the league this season”

Big words from Giggs

Many have claimed that Liverpool are one of the favourites for the title but most have stated that the Reds will win it thanks to Philippe Coutinho or Sadio Mane. Lallana has had a great start to this campaign and he seems to be getting better with each game.

In the 6-1 win over Watford, the Englishman had two assists and could have done more damage but it was enough to send Liverpool to the top of the Premier League for the first time in over two years.

Lallana has been a key performer for the Merseyside club with his three goals and five assists certainly helping the team out. This is a far cry from the Lallana that was signed from Southampton by Brendan Rodgers as he struggled to not only play but fit into the team.

Back then no one knew what his best position was but Klopp has made him an effective member of the midfield.

A transformation for the Englishman

The former Saint certainly is a player with immense technical ability but there were doubts as to how he would fit into Jurgen Klopp’s high pressing football. That isn’t a worry anymore as Lallana routinely is close to the most distance covered charts and is a link between the attack and midfield.

While Jordan Henderson and the other central midfielder (Georginio Wijnaldum or Emre Can) muck up everything that is behind the front trio, it is Lallana that keeps the engine running in the heart of midfield and his late runs have been a problem for most sides to deal with.

Ryan Giggs certainly knows the value of having team players all around and Lallana is just that. He isn’t flashy, he won’t score those blockbuster goals or even celebrate wildly. The Englishman is just doing his job and it certainly is a great feeling seeing him perform well after a tumultuous first few months at the club.

Should Liverpool win the Premier League, it could very well be down to Lallana’s form till the end of the season. And with the way they have started this campaign, it won’t be a surprise if the Reds do win it all.
