There could be some good news for Liverpool ahead of the game against Bournemouth on Sunday. The Reds haven’t been the luckiest with injuries but Adam Lallana could be set to start against the Cherries in a crunch tie, reports the Telegraph.

Liverpool lost one of their best players in the 2-0 win over Sunderland last weekend as Philippe Coutinho had to be stretchered off and the Brazilian is set to be out of the team for close to six weeks. Roberto Firmino is also a doubt for the game against Bournemouth, though Jurgen Klopp did say that the former Hoffenheim man has taken part in training and could be playing.

Lallana, though, hasn’t played for the side since the last international break but the Reds didn’t really miss him all that much when it comes to the results.

The Merseyside club picked up a couple of victories and a draw in the absence of the Englishman but there has been a lack of a midfield spark for a while.

Adam Lallana drives the Reds forwards

Jurgen Klopp’s men have struggled to break down teams since the international break and were even held 0-0 by Southampton right after the break. The Reds do need someone to pick up the ball and make a run or crack the opposition openly.

Adam Lallana normally played that role for the Reds from the midfield. Without him in the side, Klopp has played Emre Can in that role and it has not played out all that well. The German has done a good job but he is not the attacker that Liverpool needs to drive them from the centre of the park.

The Reds will face a tough tie at the Vitality Stadium and Bournemouth were pretty good even though they lost to Arsenal in their last Premier League side. The Cherries will certainly take things to Liverpool, who squeaked past the home side last season 1-2 in the corresponding fixture.

With Coutinho surely out, Klopp cannot afford to not play Lallana if the former Southampton man is fit. Lallana has scored five goals in the Premier League this season and has also provided three assists but more than that, it is his running and link up play with the forwards that has been the difference for the Merseyside club.

Lallana has found a new lease on life this season under Klopp and he would be looking to continue his great start to the season against the Cherries. Liverpool could end the weekend on top of the table should things go their way in the Manchester City-Chelsea clash, and Lallana would be hoping for a starring role in the game.
