Liverpool have had a lot of problems regarding their goalkeepers this season and even had to replace Loris Karius with Simon Mignolet despite stating that the German is the number one at the club.

The Daily Mirror now claims that the Reds are looking to sign former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, who is playing his football at Torino on loan. The 29-year-old wasn’t part of Pep Guardiola’s plans at the start of the season and he was replaced by Claudio Bravo from Barcelona.

Hart certainly has a lot of experience of playing in the Premier League and has even won the league with the Citizens. However, Pep wanted a goalie that can start the play with his feet and Hart was unceremoniously shunted to the bench and then out of the club.

Liverpool, for their part, haven’t had the best of seasons when it comes to the goalkeeping department. They started the season with Simon Mignolet in goal. The Belgian stayed there till Karius was back after breaking his hand in the preseason.

Karius though hasn’t set the world alight and made a couple of costly errors in the game against Bournemouth and then again in the game against West Ham before he too was dropped. Mignolet has returned to the first team and has kept a couple of clean sheets but many believe neither keeper is good enough for the Reds.

Joe a go for Liverpool?

The 29-year-old certainly has been one of the best keepers during the past few seasons but Guardiola might not want to sell a world-class player to a direct rival. Even if the Reds make a substantial offer, City are in no position to sell players and Hart might remain in Italy for a while.

Looking at the two goalkeepers that Liverpool have, Karius and Mignolet are great on their day but they both are culpable of making rather horrible mistakes. It all seems to be about confidence for Karius as he was one of the best keepers in the Bundesliga last season.

The former Mainz keeper might be the long-term solution at the moment and while he learns his trade at Anfield, Liverpool can do with Mignolet in between the sticks. The former Sunderland keeper might have needed some proper competition and him being dropped by Klopp could just be the kick he needed to perform.

While Mignolet could be sold in the summer, Karius needs to show that he can be the solution for the upcoming seasons. Hart might not be the right answer for Klopp or Liverpool at the moment but he could return to the Premier League for another club in the summer.
