Liverpool have been linked with a move for RB Leipzig’s Swedish winger Emil Forsberg in the past few days. The Reds have been looking to find a replacement for Sadio Mane, who will be joining the Senegalese national team for the African Cup of Nations, and the Bundesliga man seems to be the right kind of player for the Reds.

While Leipzig are enjoying a great season in the Bundesliga, it will be tough to prize Forsberg away from a side that is flying high. The 25-year-old seems to have many suitors and his agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, certainly is talking big about the chances of his player leaving the club in the January window.

Speaking to the German newspaper Bild, the agent also stated that a number of “big clubs” have already made enquiries about signing the rising star.

“I can’t confirm names,” Cetinkaya said. “But after the great first half of the season, big clubs have reached out to me.”

Even though the Bundesliga club is on its way to make it to the Champions League, Cetinkaya was coy about the future of his player and couldn’t confirm where he would be playing football after the transfer window.

“RB are on a good way to become a big club, which plays in Champions League soon. In spite of that I can’t promise that Emil will stay in Leipzig this winter.”

Leipzig have been the surprise package this season and sit just three points behind the mighty Bayern Munich. It certainly will take a good amount of money to pry the winger from the Bundesliga club thanks to his brilliant season thus far.

The perfect replacement for Sadio Mane?

The former Malmo attacker does a lot of defensive work and can link up well with the forwards. Forsberg can also play in a central role and his comfort in switching positions on the fly and this will certainly make him an attractive proposition for the Liverpool manager.

The Swedish star only joined the Bundesliga side at the start of the 2015 season and has been brilliant thus far. He has racked up nine assists and scored five goals in 16 matches for the team in the league and cup.

Liverpool quickly needs to find a suitable player for their gegenpressing style and Forsberg certainly is the man who can fit into the side easily. Even if they are not looking for a Mane replacement, Forsberg could be a quality signing that can lead the Reds to a top four finish and even more at the end of the season.
