Liverpool are in need of a talented winger and while they have targeted a fair number of players, no deal has been finalised yet. There is another player being linked with a move to Anfield and this time it is German starlet Julian Brandt.

The Liverpool Echo reports that Jurgen Klopp is keen on a move for the 20-year-old in the summer and is a big admirer of the German. Brandt has been one of the more consistent players for Bayer Leverkusen in the past couple of seasons and he already has racked up two goals and six assists in the Bundesliga this campaign.

There is no doubting his quality as many other clubs have been interested in securing the services of the German attacker with Bayern Munich consistently targeting the youngster. Even Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the £20million rated attacker, but Leverkusen seems to be firm in rejecting any proposal from their rivals.

Brandt had even rejected moving to Bayern Munich and stated he would do it again if he had the chance again.

“I would not be scared to dismiss Bayern for a second time,” Brandt recently told Bild. “The same goes for other clubs too.”

It seems that Brandt loves his career at the Bay Arena and wants to pen a new deal with the Bundesliga club. Although there are rumours suggesting that the German international could leave the side in 2018 for a fee of £17million, Brandt was more than happy at Leverkusen.

“Of course that is possible. I feel very comfortable here and I know what I’ve got here”, Brandt stated when asked about signing a new deal.

“I don’t want to deal with this (speculation) forever. It gets annoying and performances will suffer because of it.”

The Reds are expected to continue monitoring the situation of the highly rated player and with Klopp managing the side; it wouldn’t be a surprise to see more Bundesliga-based players joining the Premier League side.

Loris Karius and Joel Matip are just a couple of examples and there certainly will be more coming in. Liverpool might have to break the bank if they are to sign Brandt and with Bayern Munich still trying ever so hard, it will be tough for them to compete with the Bavarian giants.

Even though Brandt has stated that he would never join Bayern, we have seen stranger things happen in football. Klopp might have to work fast in this window and splash the cash if he wants to secure Brandt’s services and it will be interesting to see just how much the German might spend on the rising star.
