Jurgen Klopp is known for giving youngsters a chance for whichever club he manages and he certainly has given a number of academy players a game or two for Liverpool, and it is being reported that the former Borussia Dortmund manager is looking to sign another talented striker.

The Premier League side is interested in bringing in Henry Onyekuru from the Belgian First Division club K.A.S. Eupen. The 19-year-old has been a bit of a revelation for the side as he has scored 10 goals from 22 Jupiler League appearances and it isn’t just the Reds who are trying to bring him to their club.

The likes of RB Leipzig, CSKA Moscow, Fenerbahce and Hoffenheim are all tracking the highly-rated Nigerian. Scottish giants Celtic were also in the running for the star player but the deal couldn’t go through and a source close to a transfer to Fenerbahce added that Liverpool are interested in the Nigerian striker.

“His agent told me about Liverpool’s interest yesterday when I tried to reignite Fenerbahce’s interest in his services. I don’t how long Eupen can hold on to him, he is a very good player,” the source told Owngoalnigeria.com.

“He (Onyekuru) will most likely leave Eupen before the end of this transfer window despite their hard stance. They could be forced to cash in on him.”

Another youngster joining the Reds?

Klopp has signed a number of youngsters as well with the likes of Marko Grujic joining the club last season. It isn’t just his signings; a number of other youngsters have been given first team minutes this season too.

Joe Gomez, Ovie Ejaria, Sheyi Ojo, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kevin Stewart certainly are looking as bright sparks for Liverpool over the years with Alexander-Arnold looking extremely good after making his Premier League debut against Manchester United.

Onyekuru has been great for his side but Eupen lies 13th in the Belgian league and aren’t doing all that well having lost four out of their last six games. The Nigerian would not be starting games should he join Liverpool but he will have a lot of competition from where he can learn.

Ben Woodburn is another striker that Onyekuru will have to be wary of as the youngster became the youngest ever goalscorer for the Reds recently. The Nigerian certainly has to smart deciding his future and if it is with the Reds, at least he will be guaranteed the best chance of making it to a senior side for a top European side.
