Liverpool didn’t make any new signings in the recently concluded January transfer window but the Reds are keeping tabs on Andrew Robertson of Hull City. The 22-year-old Scottish defender is being seen as a replacement for James Milner as the English midfielder hasn’t played in his preferred position this season.

Milner has played in place of Alberto Moreno and it seems that Jurgen Klopp has had enough of the former Sevilla defender and wants the £10million-rated left-back according to a report. The Reds were linked with a move for the 22-year-old since the start of the last transfer window but couldn’t complete a deal for Robertson.

report from The Sun claims that Robertson is unhappy with the failure of his side in completing a deal with Burnley and he will leave the club at the start of next season. Robertson is being seen as a quality replacement for Milner and even took part in the 2-0 win over Liverpool in the weekend.

It would not just be Liverpool who would be battling for the signature of the 22-year-old as Stoke City will also try to bring the left-back. Burnley could return with an improved offer at the end of the season, should they remain in the Premier League.

Robertson might not be one of the biggest names in the Premier League but Liverpool seems desperate in their need for a quality defender.

Defensive woes hurt the Reds

While Liverpool’s goalkeeping issues have been a major issue this season, their defending hasn’t been all that great either. It is a bit of a problem that James Milner has to play as a left-back, which isn’t even his favoured spot.

The former Manchester City player has done pretty well in the position but the Reds do not have any quality cover for the Englishman. Robertson though might not be the best player that is being linked with the Reds.

From Jonas Hector and Sead Kolasinac, Andrew Robertson does seem like a step down in terms of defenders and the Scotsman hasn’t had the greatest season either for Hull City.

The Tigers are getting better under new manager Marco Silva and the new head of the team has certainly turned things around as they look to stave off relegation this season. Robertson will play a huge role in the side trying to stay in the Premier League and if he can achieve this task, there will be a proper bidding war for the 22-year-old next season.
