Simon Mignolet might have played his last game for Liverpool according to Dave Maddock from the Mirror. The Belgian had been reinstated to the Liverpool starting XI after a poor run of games from Loris Karius and did do alright till the matches against Chelsea and Hull City.

The report claims that Jurgen Klopp has had enough of the 28-year-old and will drop him from the starting XI for the match against Tottenham and bring in Karius once again. The young German, who was signed from Mainz, at the start of the season was the number one choice but he broke his hand in pre-season and that gave Mignolet the chance to do well.

Midway through the campaign, Karius was brought into the team but he struggled in the games against Bournemouth away and West Ham at home and was dropped by the manager.

Mignolet hasn’t always convinced the fans at Anfield and while many will breathe a sigh of relief that he is to depart the club, Karius isn’t the safest pair of hands either.

The 23-year-old did perform better in the EFL Cup and FA cup losses recently but playing in big games is what matters most and should Karius step up against Tottenham, he could have a decent run till the end of the season.

The future of the German keeper is also up in the air and with just 14 games remaining in the season for the Reds, he has to convince Klopp and his team should he want to stay at the club for longer.

There have been rumours suggesting that Liverpool have been tracking Joe Hart and are willing to sign him up in the summer (Guardian). The Manchester City goalkeeper has been playing in Italy this season on loan at Torino and will be looking to come back to the Premier League quickly.

While Hart isn’t the youngest keeper in the world, he is certainly better than Karius and Mignolet at the moment and should provide some respite for the Reds in their keeper problems.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Klopp does move for another keeper from the Bundesliga should he be looking to bring in someone other than Hart. Liverpool haven’t had a reliable keeper since the days of Pepe Reina and even the former Villarreal keeper faded away in the final months of his career at Anfield.

Liverpool have a number of areas to address in their team and the goalkeeping situation has been one that has worried fans since the Brendan Rodgers era. The fans have had to endure this problem for a while and it could be coming to an end soon.
