Leicester City v Crystal Palace - Premier League

Liverpool have been dealing with their goalkeeper issues by switching between Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius and now it seems there is another keeper that could be on the radar of the Merseyside club.

The Daily Star claims that the Reds are willing to battle it out for the signing of Kasper Schmeichel of Leicester City. The 28-year-old is reportedly set to leave the King Power stadium, even if the champions are relegated to the Championship.

And with Leicester struggling, Schmeichel leaving doesn’t seem that unlikely. The price for the former Manchester City keeper carries a tag of £30 million which does seem to be a bit hefty, given that he isn’t the best goalkeeper in the league.

Liverpool’s pair of keepers have made a series of mistakes and it seems that Jurgen Klopp has to make a move to fix this issue. It was claimed that Simon Mignolet was not going to play again this season but still started the game against Tottenham, where he did perform well and kept a clean sheet.

Loris Karius has also looked rather shaky at the back and needs time to get better and accustomed to the Premier League.

No go for Hart from Liverpool?

Kasper isn’t the only keeper that has been linked with a move to Liverpool with Joe Hart also on the radar. The Englishman is on loan at Torino but he probably will not get playing time at Manchester City as they brought in Claudio Bravo and Pep Guardiola seems to back the former Barcelona man.

Surprisingly, Manchester City are also in the running for the signing of Schmeichel and the Danish star might have a number of clubs to choose from in the summer.

Between Hart and Schmeichel it is a tough choice to make for Liverpool but given the price tags shared, moving for Hart might be a better move than Schmeichel but it certainly wouldn’t be the best move given that the Reds need keepers for the future.

Hart is 29 at the moment and Schmeichel isn’t getting any younger and he too hasn’t been that great this season for Leicester City.

Liverpool have a number of problems to address in the summer but the goalkeeper one has to be the biggest one come the start of next season. If they can bring in quality and replace Simon Mignolet, next season could turn out to be a little better than the current one.
