Liverpool have reportedly entered into the race to sign €50m-rated Real Madrid midfielder Isco, who is clearly on the verge of an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer. The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham for the last few months. However, he is said to have his reservations about moving to White Hart Lane, where there is already a lot of competition for the attacking midfielder position. The likes of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli are already amongst the established playmakers, and it would take something astronomical from Isco in order to replace either one of them.

However, moving to Liverpool will be a different prospect since Isco could be guaranteed first-team action since he is a favourite of manager Jurgen Klopp. The Liverpool boss has been taking a look at Isco even during his time at Borussia Dortmund. However, it is thought that the lack of funds and the prestige to match Real Madrid were a major factor in being unable to sign the player. Now, Liverpool can be more than a match for Madrid after having won the European cup five times and being one of the instantly recognizable clubs in the world.

Liverpool’s title challenge may have faltered in the last few weeks, but the club remain as one of the top contenders for next season considering that Klopp is expected to rectify a number of mistakes that took place this season. After all, it is the first full season for the German manager in the Premier league.

Isco has struggled for first-team opportunities since the permanent arrival of Zinedine Zidane. Even though the club has been immensely successful under the regime of the Frenchman, it has resulted in less first-team opportunities for the former Malaga midfielder. Isco has featured in almost 175 appearances for the club during this period. After making 53 appearances in his first two campaigns at the club, Isco featured in only 43 matches last season. So far, he has made less than 25 appearances this season.

The move to the Santiago Bernabeu has been immensely beneficial to the player on a personal level, as he has already picked up the Champions League winner’s medal on two occasions. Other trophies that have followed his way include the likes of FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and the Copa del Rey. A highly creative player, Isco would be a valuable addition irrespective of whether he joins Tottenham or Liverpool.
