As the international break has provided clubs with a two-week break, Liverpool are taking their remaining players who are not on international duty, to sunny Tenerife as they prepare to face Everton at the start of April.

One player who has travelled with the squad is James Milner and the Englishman is in the news as reports claim that the Reds want to extend his stay at the Merseyside club.

Milner had joined Liverpool on a free transfer from Manchester City at the start of the 2015-16 season and has been one of their most consistent players, ever since.

Reports now suggest that manager Jurgen Klopp wants to extend the stay of the 31-year-old beyond 2020, which is when his current contract ends. It certainly bodes well for Milner given the fact that he has been one of the best players for the club this season too, even though he has played as a left-back rather than in midfield.

The Englishman was at it once again against his former club Manchester City as he gave the Reds the lead from the penalty spot. Liverpool haven’t lost a single game in which he has scored and he kept that record intact as the Merseyside club came out with a battling draw at the Etihad.

Milner has already reached his goal tally from last season with seven strikes. He hasn’t even missed a single penalty this term and could end up hitting the double figure mark as the Reds have nine more games left in the season.

Jurgen Klopp’s team does not have to play a single game against the “big clubs” in their final nine games. That doesn’t bode well for the Reds as they have struggled against the lesser teams but if they can get their act together, Milner and the rest of the team will be playing Champions League football next season.
