Liverpool are set to chase Simon Kjaer of Fenerbahce. The Express claims, via reports from Turkey, that the Reds want to bring in a defender who has experience and Jurgen Klopp has been impressed by the Danish international this season.
Kjaer has played in a number of leagues recently and most would remember him from his time at Wolfsburg, where he didn’t really set the world on fire. The 28-year-old has been a bit of a journeyman and has spent time at Lille, Roma and Palermo before settling down in Turkey.
The report also claims that the Danish star was happy with his new club and wasn’t interested in a move away, despite Manchester United and Chelsea being linked. However, the reason why Kjaer could be interested now is the fact that he would get regular football at Anfield.
Liverpool are set to lose Mamadou Sakho next season for sure and even Lucas Leiva will be leaving the Merseyside club. This does open up the slots in the defence and it is no surprise that Klopp will be looking to add quality defenders into his side.

Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren have formed a decent pairing at the back but that has often been chopped and changed due to a number of injuries. £17 million would be enough to prise the player away from the Turkish club but Kjaer would not be the correct player to solve Liverpool’s problems.
The Danish international has a history of being error-prone and that was a problem for him during his time at Wolfsburg and even at Roma. Playing for Fenerbahce might be the right club for him since it isn’t as robust as the Premier League has been.
Liverpool were linked with a move for Kjaer early on in his career as well but he decided to move to Germany after his time at Palermo. The Reds will have to look at other options, if we are to be honest, as they need someone who can star in the defence from day one.
