Alberto Moreno

Out of favour Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno is being linked with a move away from Liverpool in the summer, with AC Milan and Inter Milan reportedly interested in the player’s services.

Moreno’s involvement has reduced drastically this season with James Milner taking over the mantle at left-back and as a result has only played 15 times this season. Milner has been the preferred left-back for Jurgen Klopp and it almost looks like there is no way back for Moreno. Though injury has been the reason for his reduced involvement, it’d be fair to say that he wasn’t really impressive for Liverpool earlier either.

Now, Goal are reporting that a host of Serie A clubs have made initial contact over the 24-year-old’s availability and the Reds hope to generate upwards of £15 million for the Spaniard on account of his age, as well as top-flight and European experience.

Moreno only joined Liverpool in 2014 from Sevilla for £12 million. With two years left to run on his contract, it is believed that the player prefers a return to Spain rather than a move elsewhere. Whether or not if there are any Spanish teams interested in the player is unknown but there would be no shortage of suitors for a player of Alberto Moreno’s quality.

Maybe it hasn’t clicked for him at Liverpool but he still remains a good quality left-back. It is all only speculative that the player is leaving the club but there could be every chance of Moreno getting another outing at Anfield next season. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if Klopp decides to let go of the Spaniard.

He would fetch a good amount of money and the same can be invested on another young full-back. There would surely be no shortage of left-backs in the market and when a club of Liverpool comes calling, it would be difficult for any player to turn down the offer.

With Champions League football almost a guarantee, the Reds would be confident of signing some quality players in the Summer.
