Theo Hernandez

Liverpool target Theo Hernandez reportedly wants to move in the summer as his relationship with the Atletico Madrid’s reserve team boss appears broken.

Spanish media group Cadena SER claim the left-back is fuming with Atletico B boss Victor Alfonso for not giving him a chance. Given his fractured relationship with the reserve-team chief, it’s suggested he’s vying for an exit.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with the player and a £20million move was reportedly on the cards. It was also told that the Reds offered a contract worth 5 times of what he is currently earning at Atletico. Real Madrid were also believed to be interested in the player but it looks like Liverpool are the ones with a strong interest in signing the young defender.

The Reds were seemingly interested in the player after his impressive loan spell with Deportivo Alaves. The left-back has made 32 appearances for his loan club and has provided 4 assists as well.

The Kop Times Verdict

Liverpool are rumoured to be looking for a left-back, as they have had to patch up using makeshift left-back James Milner. Though the Englishman has impressed with his performances for the Reds, he is not the long-term solution to their problems. While there is no doubt about his quality and experience, the Reds would largely benefit by the arrival of a natural full-back.

They have been linked with England’s own wonder kid Ryan Sessegnon, who plays for Fulham. The 16-year old has been a target for Liverpool and it was said that the Reds were showing interest.

However, it looks like they can try and pursue Theo Hernandez too, as the player seems to be frustrated at the club. Theo is young and is only 19 years old. He has now experienced the rigours of La Liga and knows what it is like to play in the top-tier.

He would welcome the opportunity of playing for Liverpool, but since he is really young, it wouldn’t be surprising if he decides to stay in Spain. If the Reds do sign the player, he would surely be a quality addition to an already young Liverpool squad.
