Real Madrid have reportedly refused a £42million bid from Liverpool for the potential signing of Spanish sensation Marco Asensio. Liverpool have heavily been linked with the player and it was believed that Klopp was keen on signing the talented attacker.

Asensio has seen a rapid rise since joining Real Madrid. This season, he has made 29 appearances and has scored 9 goals and 3 assists so far. This midweek, he scored against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and earned a lot of credits for the way he took the goal.

It was a counter attack and he had the ball on his feet, charging up the field with Ronaldo making a run to his left. 9 out of 10 players would probably have passed it to Ronaldo and watched the net bulge. But Asensio had other ideas, as he dribbled his way past the Bayern defenders, held his dribble strong against Mats Hummels, and put the ball into the back of the net.

Though he has played only for around 1500 minutes this season, it is believed that Zidane wants to keep hold of the player who is viewed as one of the next gen superstars in Spain.

Reports in Spain claim that Liverpool bid somewhere around €50million, which converts to around £42million. However, it seems like the amount may not be enough to convince Real Madrid to part ways with the 21-year old.

According to Cadena Cope, Real Madrid do not have any intention of selling the player as they plan to accommodate him in the star-studded Madrid lineup next season as well.

Asensio would surely be a shrewd signing for Liverpool as he is extremely talented and is so young. The quality he would add to Liverpool cannot be questioned as he is as talented as any other top European youngsters around. Though the amount may seem ridiculous for a 21-year old, it can be considered alright as the player has his contract running until 2022.

Real Madrid are under no pressure to sell the player and hence it would be difficult for Liverpool to convince the Spanish giants into a sale.

Do you think Liverpool should push for Marco Asensio?
