Liverpool are reportedly eyeing a deal for Hull City left-back Andrew Robertson, who is valued at around £8 million. According to Daily Mail, Liverpool are close to sealing a deal for the talented left-back and he might join the Reds in the summer.
Liverpool have used versatile English midfielder James Milner as a left-back this season and the Englishman hasn’t disappointed at all. He has been quite solid for the Reds and somehow, they have managed the season without the need for an established left-sided full-back.
Milner has racked up 35 appearances for the Anfield outfit and in 33 of those, he has played as a left-back. He has 7 goals and 4 assists from that position, which is outstanding, considering the fact that it is not his natural position.
Andrew Robertson for Hull City has made 34 appearances and has 1 goal and 3 assists to his name. Robertson is only 23-years old and can be developed into a fine player if nurtured properly. Jurgen Klopp is the kind of manager who is well-known for identifying talented youngsters and so the fans can be relaxed about whether the player is good or not.
The Kop Times Verdict
Though he is only 23-years old, he is quite mature in his defensive side of the game and does not dive into tackles. He is known to hold his ground firm and is quite solid. He is aerially weak but is quite strong with his passing and dribbling, which makes him suitable to Jurgen Klopp’s style of play.
All in all, Robertson would be a shrewd signing by Liverpool but the price seems a bit too much considering Robertson’s profile. Negotiations might bring the asking price down a little and he would be a good signing without a doubt.
Do you think Andy Robertson is the player who Liverpool need?
