Adam Lallana of Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has delivered a huge message much to the relief of the fans, as he has revealed that Lallana could be back for the game against Watford. Lallana has missed a good chunk of Liverpool’s recent encounters due to a hamstring problem.

Lallana returned to training a few days back but the game against Crystal Palace probably came too soon for him. Liverpool suffered a frustrating 2-1 loss to the Eagles at Anfield, putting themselves under huge pressure to stay in the top-4 of the league table.

Liverpool have played 2 games more than Manchester City and Manchester United but are only 2 and 3 points ahead of them respectively. They also have played 3 games more than the 6th placed Arsenal, who are 9 points behind the Reds. If Liverpool continue to stumble, it could be easy for the 3 teams below them to capitalise on and climb the table.

Liverpool’s Champions League qualification would be crucial if they intend to attract top talents to the club in the summer. Nevertheless, with Klopp being hopeful about Lallana returning soon, there could be a sense of renewed optimism around Anfield.

Klopp said: “Maybe Adam [Lallana] is coming back for the next game, which of course would help us in different situations and that’s good. We have now five or six days to train until Watford, so we will use it and then go to Watford. It will not be easy [to win] but possible and that’s enough.”

Lallana has been in good form for Liverpool this season and has scored 7 goals and 7 assists in 31 games. Given that all of his goals and 6 of his 7 assists have come from a central midfield position, it goes on to show how influential Lallana has been this season.

It isn’t really surprising to see Klopp sound excited about welcoming the Englishman back. Now that Liverpool are entering a crucial phase of the season, they would be hoping that Lallana hits the ground running immediately after returning, and it could possibly start from Liverpool’s game against Watford on next Monday.
