Daniel Sturridge of Liverpool.

Daniel Sturridge has opened up about his future and is surprisingly relaxed about it as he says he isn’t worried about it as of now. Sturridge’s game time this season has been really limited and that is partly due to his injury struggles as well. However, he has also found it difficult to settle into Klopp’s system and struggled for consistency whenever he was fit and available.

Nevertheless, Sturridge displayed a moment of quality when he scored Liverpool’s opening goal against West Ham United, latching on to an exquisite defence-splitting pass from the magical Philippe Coutinho.

Sturridge was simply uncatchable after he was sent through on goal and calmly rounded the keeper before slotting the ball into the empty net with his weaker foot. It portrayed the quality player that he is and it was a timely reminder of what he is capable of on his day.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding his future as he has played very little but the Englishman seems relaxed about his future.

Sturridge was quoted by Liverpool Echo,

“The manager has shown faith in me and we have a good relationship as well. The fans have been different class. I don’t have any worries about next season. I am looking forward to this last game. We need the three points of course and then we’ll be in the Champions League.”

“These are the things I guess you don’t train on very much when you’re one on one, you don’t really get many, with that much time anyway. I felt sharp. I’m glad to be starting and glad to be providing some chances for the boys as well and it’s a great victory for us. It’s important for everyone at the club. We’ve been good the last few weeks but maybe we should have taken more points in some of the games.”

“We rose to the occasion, we showed what we were about, we worked hard and kept the ball well and we did everything the manager asked of us. It’s a great feeling. This was an important game for us. It was a big one. We came here with the right attitude. We knew what we had to do and it’s great to get the victory.”

Sturridge, despite his injury struggles, remains a quality player for the Reds and it would be better for Klopp to rather hold on to the striker as he’d be a great value add to the squad. But whether the German tactician decides to keep Sturridge at Anfield remains to be seen.

Do you think Sturridge deserves to continue playing for Liverpool?
