The stock of Sampdoria forward Patrik Schick seems to be on the up with each passing day. While Liverpool have been linked with the player, there are a number of other clubs wanting to sign the Czech striker as well.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Serie A giants AS Roma want to sign the Sampdoria striker but they would have to battle it out with many clubs. The report also claims that Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Italian champions Juventus want Schick.

It does seem to be a little concerning that we have been linked with Schick all throughout the final third of the season. Schick might have done alright in the Serie A with 11 goals from 23 games but that doesn’t really give us a lot of insight as to how well he would do in the English league. The 21-year-old doesn’t seem like a great replacement for Daniel Sturridge even with his rather low release clause of €25million (£21.8million).

It might be a decent move for Roma as they would be losing the legendary Francesco Totti at the end of the season. However, we have to sign bigger and better targets who will hit the ground running in the Premier League.

The lack of quality cover for our first teamers cost us a proper go at the title and we cannot sign mediocre players ahead of a crucial season for us.

We have a chance of getting into the Champions League via the qualifying round but if we don’t bring in the right players, we will be gobbled up by the other teams in the league.

FSG and Jurgen Klopp have to get things done properly this time around as a summer of heavy spending would provide us with a base to challenge for a number of titles.
