Left-back has been one of the areas we have to invest in ahead of the new season and there has been fresh reports from Spanish outlet AS claiming that we are interested in Santos left-back Zeca.

The outlet claims that Jurgen Klopp wants to bring the Brazilian youngster into the club and is willing to pay around £11.4 million for the 23-year-old.

The youngster has been a regular for the Brazilian side since turning 19 and has played 122 times for the side since 2014. The youngster was also named in the Campeonato Paulista team of the year in 2016 and picked up two Paulista titles with Santos as well.

Zeca also won the U20 World Cup with the national side and even picked up Olympic gold in Rio and could be looking for a move away from the Brazilian league.

The contract for the player reportedly lasts till 2020 and if Klopp plays his cards right, he could sign up a player with immense potential for an economical price, something that is not a norm in the transfer market.

For all the positivity surround Zeca and his potential, we have to be a little careful about how we spend money in the window.

Is Zeca the right man for Liverpool?

Alberto Moreno is done and dusted for us, and should be sold as soon as the window opens. And we cannot play with James Milner as our primary left-back next season too.

What we need is someone who knows the Premier League very well and can step up from day one. Zeca might be talented but playing in the Premier League is a different challenge when compared to South American football and simply relying on him to turn things around in the left-back spot is a little too much to ask for.

Zeca could be a decent number two to have in the side as we aim to get a better player into the side. We cannot risk it all with a young player, something we seemed to be doing with Ryan Sessegnon as well.

Klopp has to get some signings right this summer and a proper left-back is crucial for the team. And unless we get someone who is experienced into the side, there will always be a fear that teams will target our left-back spot next season.
