There is some great news on the horizon for Liverpool fans as Sadio Mane will return to training sometime in the next 10 days.

The official website of the club stated that the rehabilitation of the star remains on track. The former Southampton man will work with the medical team at Melwood for the time being and has already taken part in a few outdoor sessions to speed up his recovery programme.

Mane’s season was cut short after a rather tough challenge in the 3-1 win over Everton at Anfield. The 25-year-old picked up a serious knee injury which ended his season.

While it was initially expected that he would return to action last season, Mane had to go under the knife but we just about made it to the Champions League by finishing fourth.

Sadio Mane

Mane certainly was on fire for us last season as he chipped in with 13 goals and 5 assists in just 27 Premier League games. The 25-year-old was one of the most feared players out there and even though he spent more than a month away on AFCON duty, he came in with full energy and made a difference to a side lacking options in attack.

Getting Mane back to full fitness will be huge for us as we look to secure Champions League group stage entry. Mane added an extra dimension to our attack with his running and movement – something we seriously lacked before his arrival.

Fortunately, we have already made a smart buy in Mohamed Salah and the pair would strike fear into opposition defences next season.

The most important thing for us now is to ensure Mane returns to full fitness without any rushing as it would hamper his recovery. We cannot afford to have him pick up an injury again as he will be key to not only our Premier League hopes but also our Champions League aspirations.

There is a long way to go in the current transfer window too but Mane coming back is like a new signing joining us and if he plays in the same vein of form as last season, we will be in for a treat.
