Italian Champions Juventus continue their chase of Liverpool midfielder Emre Can, even though the Reds may demand a huge transfer fee as per reports from talkSPORT.

The German International has a new contract offer of £100,000 per-week on the table from the Merseyside team to extend his stay at the Anfield. However, Can is yet to agree terms, which has only given a fillip to the teams chasing him – most notably Juventus.

The Old Lady have had their eyes set on Can for a long time now and would like to take advantage of the prolonged contract negotiations to make their move.

Juventus are planning on working their way around Liverpool’s asking price by exploiting the German international’s contract situation as reported by the talkSPORT. Boss Jurgen Klopp is keen on keeping Can at Anfield, but the longer the contract negotiations drag on, the stronger Juve’s chances grow.

Klopp and the upper echelons at the club view Can as a key member of their squad. Now with the German tactician eager to mount a challenge for bringing back the Premier League title to Anfield, he views his countryman’s versatility as a key ingredient.

Liverpool have offered a bumper new deal to Can and are confident of tying the midfielder for the longer term. Irrespective of their confidence, question marks hover over his future and Juve are lurking in the corner.

The Turkish-origin midfielder was a part of the Germany side that recently won the Confederations Cup. Can is currently on a holiday in the United States after he was given an extended holiday following his international commitments. The 23-year-old who can play equally well in midfield and defence, began his career at Bayern Munich before making a move to Bayer Leverkusen in 2013.

He was signed by Liverpool in 2014. Can has represented Liverpool in 89 games across three seasons so far in the Premier League and has scored 7 times. The 2016-17 season was the most productive for Can in Reds’ colours having scored 5 goals in 32 League appearances. It looks like he has at last settled in his role under Klopp and is ready to unleash his potential.

No wonder that Juve are ready to pounce on any little opening that his current contract scenario would allow!
