Rumours continue to mount about Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, as Barcelona are reportedly keen on signing the player at any cost, having identified him as the replacement for Neymar. Even though Coutinho has a long-term contract with Liverpool, manager Jurgen Klopp knows that an unhappy player is next to worthless in the team. Hence, the Reds may grudgingly accept the offer from Barcelona, but the money could be invested straight away. The Mirror reports that Liverpool are seriously considering the possibility of making a move for Christian Pulisic.

The 18-year-old has been one of the highly rated talents in German football and is expected to be on his way to stardom. Even at this young age, he has been a regular for the United States national team and has made 16 appearances. We have been relatively active in this summer transfer window by bringing in the likes of Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah. Once again, both players are not target men and this is clearly the direction where Liverpool are heading under Klopp. The transfer policy does not seem to have changed, as we show an interest in Pulisic.

Borussia Dortmund are no longer the force in German football like they were a couple of years ago. As a result, there are serious doubts about their ability to qualify regularly for the Champions League. Liverpool may be ready to capitalise on the situation by making a move for Pulisic. While Dortmund won’t be willing to sell the player, an offer in the range of £30million, could get them thinking. Considering his age, the club want to insert several clauses in his transfer in order to be protected about any future rise in the player’s valuation.

A reason for Liverpool switching their attention towards the 18-year-old is their inability to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig. The German outfit steadfastly refused any offer from Liverpool even after we had reportedly made a £70million bid. Now, Pulisic may not be a ready-made answer to a potential exit of Coutinho, but there is plenty of belief within Anfield that the 18-year-old can develop into one of the game’s stars, just like the Brazilian.
