With the start of the 2017-18 Premier League season on the anvil, the transfer market is getting into overdrive. As teams give finishing touches to their squad additions, we see a scramble for players’ signature. One such player on Liverpool radar is Brazilian forward Luan and the battle for his signature is beefing up, with Turkish side Fenerbahce entering the fray according to French outlet Foot Mercato (h/t The Mirror).

The Gremio forward was previously linked with the Reds 12 months ago as a replacement for Christian Benteke although it all proved false. At the start of this summer transfer window, his name once again popped up on the list of alternatives for Daniel Sturridge’s replacement.

With Jurgen Klopp increasingly confident of Sturridge’s stay at the Anfield, Luan silently made his exit from the rumour mill. He was also linked with Sampdoria who wanted to take him to Serie A.

Now it’s the turn of Turkish giants Fenerbahce to enter the race for his signature. After finishing third in the Turkish Super Lig last season, Fenerbahce are looking to improve their standing this year. Luan earned his first senior cap for Brazil earlier this year and has been widely tipped as the next Ronaldinho. The 24-year-old is open to offers and even his club are ready to sell him at the right price.

Liverpool were reported to have bid £26million for this talented forward in May although that never materialised into a solid bid. There was nothing on this matter until this interest from Fenerbahce resurfaced.

Highly Unlikely

Liverpool are looking to strengthen their defensive unit as Klopp targets more solidity in the new season. Having already signed Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke, it appears Klopp is happy with his options up front. The duo has impressed in the pre-season while Sturridge too could stay on the Merseyside.

Any thoughts of entering the fray for a new forward signing looks far-fetched now. The Reds will look at that, only if they lose someone to an injury or to an audacious bid from some big club (Philippe Coutinho, anyone?) – chances of which look very remote.
