Liverpool have got a boost for one of their long-term targets, with news coming out that he may be open to a move in the future.

Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic is a name that needs no introduction for Liverpool fans who keep hearing his name every transfer window. And the 33-year-old keeper has indicated in his latest interview with Inter’s official site that his future might be away from the club.

It is a huge boost for the Reds because the Slovenian keeper has been on the radar for many years now. Even in the summer, it was reported that Liverpool were interested in bringing the player to Anfield. However, the Nerazzurri did not want their experienced keeper leave in the middle of a very important season.

After many years of hurt and European absence, Inter are trying their best to come back into contention this season in Serie A. As such, Handanovic is crucial for the fortunes of the San Siro giants and they did not want to entertain any offers for their experienced keeper.

Does this new revelation change the scheme of things for Inter and Handanovic? He was speaking to the club’s official site (h/t Teamtalk) and revealed that there is a possibility that he may end his career at a club other than Inter.

“I don’t know if I’ll end my career here”, Handanovic said.

“My only objective is to play until I am 40, then we’ll see what happen in the future. Now is it time for Inter to step up and make this club return where it belongs.”

Is this a boost for Liverpool? We all know that the goalkeeping department is one area where we are still looking for a proven performer. No disrespect to Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius but both have been consistently inconsistent, leaving a huge room for improvement. Without a doubt, Jurgen Klopp would be excited if Handanovic becomes available in the market.

Will he improve Liverpool by leaps and bounds? Critics may point out that it is tough for other League players to come and settle quickly in the Premier League but I have a feeling that Handanovic might be an exception. Let’s hope that he actually becomes available on the market and that we can finally land him.
