After seeing Tottenham lose to Arsenal, the pressure was on Liverpool to reduce the gap on Spurs. The Reds had won their last three games and were looking in good form, and were favourites to pick up three points.
The starting line-up was a sight of joy for the fans as we got to see Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino start together and Southampton did have their work cut out.
While the game didn’t have a spark, a moment of magic from Salah opened the scoring with a fine curling effort from outside the box. The Egyptian made it two when he ran off a ball by Coutinho to become Premier League’s top scorer for the season, with 9 goals now to his name.
Coutinho scored the third goal after the half-time to ensure we moved above Arsenal into 5th place, just one point behind Spurs. With Sevilla up next, this was the perfect manner to prepare for the crunch game in the Champions League.
The main talking point was about Salah and how he has been an incredible buy for us. Here are some of the best twitter reactions to the game and our wonderful Egyptian attacker.

Salah broke a 20-year-old record by making it nine Premier League goals in his first 12 Liverpool games. Robbie Fowler bagged eight back in the 1990s. ⚽️ #LFC
