Liverpool are seriously weighing up their options to bring one of Jurgen Klopp’s old-time favourites to Anfield, as per reports. With the January transfer window set to open, the Reds are looking to bolster their ranks with this striker.

The player is Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has a history of working with Klopp during his time at the Signal Udana Park. The Daily Express reports that the Reds are ready to make an offer for him in January as they look to reunite him with his former boss.

The £58.5m rated Aubameyang is one of the deadliest strikers in the entire European continent and has caught everyone’s attention with his poaching skills and quality to score a goal. He has been a constant figure in the race for maximum goals in the Bundesliga for the past couple of seasons.

This season too, the striker has started brightly by scoring 17 goals in 19 games in all competitions. The 28-year-old reportedly handed in a transfer request in the summer, although Dortmund rejected it outright.

However, a lot of things have happened since then, as the player continues to frustrate the club with his antics. He was suspended by Dortmund after turning up late for training last month while his red card against Schalke was supposedly the reason for Dortmund to lose their 4-goal lead after being 4-0 up.

With the club willing to let the player leave, it is up to the Reds if they want to snap this deadly striker up. The lure of working with Klopp could be the clincher as the Anfield outlet faces competition from fellow Premier League rivals Chelsea for his signature.

Goals aren’t really the priority for Klopp, whose side is scoring for fun this season. However, I believe that a player of the level of Aubameyang doesn’t come on the transfer market often. His behavioural issues may be a worry for other clubs but did Klopp not tame him at Dortmund earlier?

I feel Liverpool should go for his signature if he becomes available.
