Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Kevin Trapp wants to leave the club in the winter transfer window in search of regular football, according to his agent. Trapp has made 60 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG since joining the club back in 2015 but the German is being heavily linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes in the New Year.

The 27-year-old shot-stopper has found playing time in the French capital hard to come by this term, making just 4 appearances across all competitions after failing to displace Alphonse Areola from the first-team. Trapp’s representative, Jorg Neubauer, has admitted Trapp will look to move on from the Ligue 1 leaders if they are willing to sell next month.

Asked if Trapp could move on from PSG in January, Neubauer told Sport 1 (h/t Metro):

“If there’s a chance in the winter, Kevin wants to leave Paris.”

Trapp has grown impatient at his lack of game time in Paris and recently talked up a move to Anfield, labelling Liverpool an ‘amazing’ club. He was quoted in a report by Metro a month ago:

“It’s an amazing club with a great tradition. And of course, I’m a fan of the Premier League.

“The Reds are not without interest, they have already won many titles, and Jurgen Klopp is, of course, a very good coach.

“I have not thought of possible clubs yet. However, many things can happen in football. Even if I’m not the most patient person, I have to stay cool.”

Speaking last month, the PSG shot-stopper suggested he was eager for more playing time in order to bolster his chances of making Germany’s squad for the World Cup in Russia next year.

“If you want to go to the World Cup, you have to be playing. We’ll see what happens,” he said.

Both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet have come under intense scrutiny during their time on Merseyside. The latter, in particular, came under fire for his recent performance in Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with top-four rivals, Arsenal at Emirates last weekend.

It is now thought that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp would welcome the prospect of bringing the 27-year-old Trapp to Anfield. The Liverpool boss is desperate to solve the goalkeeping issues and Trapp would be an ideal signing in January.
