Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is one of the nicest and humblest footballers across the world and he has enhanced the reputation with a touch of class. The Egyptian made a superb gesture to one of his young supporters that has only earned the player more respect and recognition.

As reported by Liverpool Echo, footage of Mohamed Abdel Karim, who lives in the Egyptian city of Luxor, surfaced, with the little boy wearing a ragged outfit with ‘MO SALAH 10’ carved on the back of it with a pen. Salah came across the video of this on Arabic television channel ONsport and reportedly made contact with presenter Mai Helmy, requesting her to pass his fan a brand new Liverpool shirt with ‘M.SALAH 11’ back of it.

Ms Helmy rightfully obliged and delivered the jersey to Mohammed Abdel, who was pictured wearing it with utmost delight and pride. Salah’s latest act of humility comes as no surprise, given that he has done a lot of charitable work for the development of his homeland.

In December last year, the Liverpool forward donated €30,000 to the Association of Veteran Egyptian Players. Salah was instrumental in firing Egypt to the 2018 World Cup. As a token of appreciation for the great work he did with the national team, he was offered a luxury villa but the player turned down the offer last October.

Instead, Salah asked businessman Mamdouh Abbas to make a donation to Nagrig village, the place where he grew up.

“Salah highlighted his small village on the international map. He also built a charity and will build a school that costs millions,” Maher Shetia, mayor of Nagrig was quoted by Liverpool Echo.

“This is in addition to his donations to Basioun hospital with a complete ventilation room, incubations and an ambulance unit.”

Salah has never forgotten his roots and his recent act reminds us of Lionel Messi’s gift to a five-year-old Afghan boy, who was spotted wearing a plastic bag with the Barcelona star’s name drawn upon it.

After coming across the footage, Messi, through the help of UN children’s agency, UNICEF delivered the little Afghan boy a signed Argentina jersey and a football. Indeed, players like Salah and Messi are a real inspiration to everyone playing this beautiful game. They are not only icons of the game but are superstars beyond that.
