According to Egypt’s one of the most respected coaches, Hassan Shehata, Egypt star Mohamed Salah must stay put at Liverpool.

Hassan Shehata is Egypt’s longest-serving manager in their history, having been at the helm for six years between 2005 and 2011.

Salah is a hero in his native, as he guided Egypt to their first World Cup finals since 1990. Since signing for Liverpool at the start of the season from AS Roma, the jet-heeled attacker has been a surprise package in the Premier League and has scored 38 goals in all competitions so far.

Shehata, who won three successive African Cup of Nations titles with Egypt, has advised Salah to think twice before leaving Liverpool.

Due to Salah’s prolific form this season at Anfield, there has been speculation regarding his future, with European champions, Real Madrid reportedly interested in the winger. However, according to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds are adamant that they will not sell their star man after just one season.

Speaking on Egyptian television, Shehata said:

“It is honour to us when we talk about Mohamed Salah.

“He did great job this year with Liverpool. He can either leave for Barcelona or Real Madrid, or he can stay with Liverpool.

“It is up to him, but I think he should play for the team who will always let him play.

“Salah is the biggest star with Liverpool, but with Real Madrid he will under the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo – and that’s what made Neymar leave Barcelona, because he wanted to be out of Lionel Messi’s shadow.

“Salah should think very well before he leaves Liverpool and get advice from trustworthy professional people, then he will take the best decision for himself.”

Salah has been in breathtaking form since returning to the Premier League. The Egyptian has found the right manager in Jurgen Klopp, who has built the current team around the nippy attacker.

Liverpool have been a force to reckon with this season and Salah has been a central figure in everything that we have done. He has been a part of football’s one of the most exciting sides, as Liverpool aspire to reclaim their status as one of Europe’s most dominant forces.

At this moment, Salah is battling to be fit for Tuesday’s Champions League return leg against Manchester City, six days after limping off with an injury in the 3-0 win at Anfield.
