Full Time: West Bromwich Albion 2-2 Liverpool

Liverpool threw away a two-goal lead to end up with a point at the Hawthorns. A win for us should have clinched a top-four spot but there still is some work to do.

Goals from Danny Ings in the first half and then Mohamed Salah’s 41st of the season should have been enough for us to get three points.

Ahmed Hegazi should have been sent off for having a bit of a punch on Danny Ings. We should have got a penalty as well but the referee seemed to be on West Brom’s side.

It was Jake Livermore who scored from a scamble after a corner and then Rondon scored the equaliser in the 89th minute to hit us hard.

We now have to prepare for the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League and there must be changes in the side.

Liverpool Player Ratings

Loris Karius – 7/10

Karius did his best to stop the goals from going in but he seemed to be a little slow in reacting, especially for the second goal.

Alberto Moreno – 6/10

It was a surprise seeing Moreno start but it does seem like Andrew Robertson is the man for the left-back slot. Moreno was poor today and hopefully, won’t make the same kind of mistakes as he did today.

Ragnar Klavan – 6/10

The Estonian really struggled in central defence and proved once again that we do need to sign players for that position.

Virgil van Dijk – 7/10

Van Dijk was great in the first-half but all of a sudden, he started making mistakes in the second half. A poor final 15 minutes from the Dutchman led to a lot of craziness at the back.

Joe Gomez – 7/10

The youngster had a bit of a hard time in the second half but was great in the first. Another player that seemed to wilt under the pressure.

James Milner – 7/10

Milner was one player that seemed to be doing the work in the midfield and the Englishman did have a good game, except for those last 10 minutes or so.

Jordan Henderson – 5/10

Henderson was missing. There was no authority in the midfield and it was a poor showing from our captain.

Georginio Wijnaldum – 6.5/10

Wijnaldum had a couple of good moments as he joined the attack but wasn’t assertive in the midfield.

Mohamed Salah – 8/10

Salah tried his best to score in the first half but it just was not coming for him. He did get his 41st goal of the season when he was played in by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. He was another player that got a hit from Hegazi but no worries.

Sadio Mane – 7.5/10

Mane provided the assist for the Ings goal and was one of our better players as his runs were almost unstoppable by the West Brom defence.

Danny Ings – 7.5/10

Ings scored after almost two and a half years and even though it was a scrappy goal, it was opportunistic. The Englishman should have scored another but this was a good outing. It was a surprise that Ings did not win a free-kick when Hegazi jumped all over him and punched him too.

Substitutes

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 8/10

The Ox might have come on in the second half but he was brilliant. Gave us the energy and drive in the midfield and even assisted Salah for the second goal.

Roberto Firmino – 6/10

Firmino did have a couple of good moments but didn’t really do much in the final third.

Dejan Lovren – 6/10

Lovren did play Rondon on for the second goal but he tried to close him down. Not the best day for the Croatian.
