In a recent Q&A session conducted by Liverpool Echo’s James Pearce and Liverpool fans, a lot of secrets were spilt. Over the years, Pearce has managed to establish himself as one of the club’s most trusted correspondents and he has not let us down so far.
In recent times, Liverpool have been linked with a move for Lyon captain Nabil Fekir. Since Philippe Coutinho’s departure to Barcelona, we have lacked the services of a creative playmaker and Fekir could go a long way in filling that void.
He has been a standout performer in the Ligue 1 this season and his creative skills alongside the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah is a tantalising prospect indeed. However, if Pearce is to be believed, a deal is not really in the works.
He does admit that Liverpool have monitored his performances in recent times and that the player could work wonders for our attack in general but he concluded by confirming that no negotiations have taken place until now.
That does come as bad news for us since it is crucial for us to have a player like him in the squad. Our fellow supporters on Twitter seem to agree and here are some of the best reactions:
I am not convinced our fanbase is truly aware of how amazing a player Nabil Fekir is. Passing. Shooting. Dribbling. Close control. Long range goals. Creative assists. He does them all.

Nothing like James Pearce to come and put out Liverpool transfer rumour fires just as they are getting hot.

Those Nabil Fekir to Liverpool rumours seem to have gone very, very quiet, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Signing Nabil Fekir would be the ideal replacement of Coutinho. We lack creativity when playing against deep defences Salah and Manè can't make their runs behind.

Besides Nabil Fekir, all the other names linked to Anfield are not good enough. We really don't need Jack Butland 😔
