Liverpool’s season is far from over since we are yet to face Real Madrid in an epic Champions League final at Kiev but if a report from the club’s official website is anything to go by, it looks like we have improved by leaps and bounds in recent times.

Throughout the season, Liverpool have faced a fair share of troubles. With defensive issues, injury crisis and the lack of a quality goalkeeper, we still managed to soldier on and secure a top-four finish while also booking a date with Los Blancos in the Champions League.

Our front trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino deserves special credit but towards the end of the season, a lot of our other players stepped up and put in some impressive performances. Guest columnist Andrew Beasley brought our attention to some numbers that are truly incredible.

First and foremost, Liverpool have recorded their second-best two-season points tally in the Premier League by collecting 76 points in the recent season and 75 last year. In addition to that, when compared to last season, our stats read a lot better. For example, we have conceded lesser goals, maintained more clean sheets and lost lesser tackles as well.

Thanks to the goalscoring powers of our attackers, we managed to score 84 league goals, making it our second-best goals-per-game record in Premier League history.

That’s not all: Out of our 21 wins in the English top-flight, we won 13 of those matches by at least 3 goals. In doing so, Liverpool managed to create a record of notching up the highest number of wins by 3 goals or more since 1936.

Well, to say that the season has been incredible will be an understatement but let’s hope we are able to get one last hurrah by picking up the Champions League trophy.
