The holy month of Ramadan is here, meaning Muslims across the world are participating in fasts which prevent them from consuming food during the daylight hours.

This did raise questions about Mohamed Salah since the Egyptian is a devout Muslim and like the others, he would be expected to fast as well.

Normally, that would have been great but with a pivotal Champions League clash coming up against Real Madrid, the situation did seem worrisome.

However, Liverpool’s physio has put all such worries to rest. According to a report by The Independent, Ruben Pons has confirmed that Salah will not be fasting during the big game.

That does come as a relief since playing 90 minutes in such a high-pressure encounter can be tough even when a person has eaten well and to do so on an empty stomach is impossible.

Mohamed Salah

Given Salah’s importance to Liverpool, it is great that he will ensure he eats just enough to deliver yet another swashbuckling performance this weekend.

Having scored 44 goals across competitions for us this season, Salah will be looking to increase his tally against the reigning European giants.

He will be up against some of the best defenders in the form of Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos and Marcelo and it will be interesting to see how he fares against them.

We have a big game ahead of us and beating Real Madrid will be far from easy – especially in the Champions League. But with a player like Salah in our squad, anything can happen.
