Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has stated that he is aware of interest from Liverpool but the decision on his future depends on what Barcelona have to say.

The 29-year-old barely played for the Catalan giants as he only made 11 appearances, with 9 of them coming in the victorious Copa del Rey campaign.

Cillessen, who joined the La Liga club from Ajax in 2016, was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying that he will wait till 16 July to see what Barcelona have to say about his future.

“I need to wait patiently. The only thing I know is that Barcelona won’t sell me.

“Arsenal and Liverpool aren’t bad clubs but if Barcelona say, ‘We love you’, then I’ll accept their decision and continue there.”

The Dutch keeper also added that he will be happy to stay at the club should they want him. He had signed a five-year deal with them earlier.

A quality keeper who could play for the big sides

It is surprising that Cillessen is not aiming for a move away from the club for more regular football given that he performed really well in the 2014 World Cup for the Netherlands.

The former Ajax keeper is the understudy to Marc-Andre ter Stegen but has the capabilities to be the number one keeper for a number of top sides in the world.

The 29-year-old would be a decent option for us given that he is someone who might come on the cheap compared to the likes of Alisson or Jan Oblak. However, his age could be a major stumbling block as we don’t seem to be buying players close to the 30-year mark.
