Mario Gotze is ready to quit Borussia Dortmund and wants to sign for Liverpool, according to Lee Price, an author who has written two books on German football.

Speaking to the Express, Price also stated that the World Cup winner from 2014 also considered joining us twice in the past and now wants to link up with former boss Jurgen Klopp.

“One man he has known and liked for a long time – and has considered signing for Liverpool on two occasions – is Mario Gotze.

“The German star is out of favour at Borussia Dortmund, and wants to test himself in England, plus would command a relatively modest fee in today’s hyperactive transfer market.”

Price also believed that most Premier League clubs would want to sign Gotze but Liverpool is his top choice because of the presence of Klopp.

The author also added that Klopp believes he can revitalise the career of Gotze after spending years together at Borussia Dortmund.

The German moved back to Dortmund from Bayern Munich in 2016 but he has not been able to find his form with the Yellows and even missed out on the Germany squad for the 2018 World Cup.

Gotze would be a great addition to the Liverpool side and if there is one person who can get him back to his best, it would be Klopp.

Price also added that the German attacker would be available for a relatively lower price compared to some of the other players and that should make it a tantalising prospect for Klopp and the Reds. We do require another attacking outlet next season and a signing like Gotze might just be the tonic for us.
