It is no secret that Marco Silva must revamp his Everton squad ahead of the season. According to a report by Calciomercato (h/t Liverpool Echo), the manager is reportedly looking to sign former Liverpool target, Emil Forsberg.

The Swedish star, who is valued at £50m by the Bundesliga outfit, recently came out and stated that he is ready to leave RB Leipzig and move to a bigger club.

Over the course of the previous season, he helped them finish sixth in the German top-flight. The 26-year-old didn’t have a stellar campaign as he could only score just five goals and provide four assists from 35 games in all competitions.

It remains to be seen if Everton are able to shell out the required sum, given their poor transfer record from last season. Hence, we might have an advantage over our Merseyside rivals.

Forsberg was a target for us last season but a move did not materialise. However, we have signed Naby Keita from Leipzig, meaning we could use this link to bring the Swedish star to Anfield.

Of course, since he is playing in the World Cup, there will be a number of other clubs looking to sign him but if we make the first move, we could end up getting someone that would fit our playing style.

The Swede can play in a number of positions across the front line and it would be heart-breaking to see him join the Toffees. After all, we have been chasing for the 26-year-old for the longest time.

Hopefully, Jurgen Klopp will be able to beat Silva to sign him and boost out squad depth ahead of the new campaign.
