As per a report by The Mirror, Liverpool might face competition to sign Gremio striker Luan this summer. We have been linked with a move for the sensational attacker but the report claims that the likes of Newcastle United and Lazio are also lurking for a possible deal.

In fact, the Italian outfit have reportedly tabled a bid of €15m for Luan’s services. However, Gremio are looking for a fee in the region of €25m – which is a significant sum of money. But it must be noted that he only signed a new three-year deal with his current club last November and hence, their demands are not surprising.

But since Gremio are holding out for a greater fee, should Liverpool swoop in and offer the money?

Over the course of the previous campaign, we relied greatly on Roberto Firmino to lead the line. We do have the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings at our disposal but given their tryst with injuries and lack of form, it would be a risk to depend on them.

Luan Vieira is close to Liverpool move

Hence, a move for Luan does seem like a promising prospect. After missing out on winning trophies last season, it will be crucial for us to make a solid title challenge in the upcoming campaign. But to do that, we must bolster our attacking forces.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool are willing to shell out the required fee but if they do, it will be a good long-term investment.
