Stoke City would request a player on loan from Liverpool as we look to complete a deal for Swiss star Xherdan Shaqiri, according to the Mirror.
The report claims that Stoke manager Gary Rowett is looking to bring the Potters back to the Premier League next season but has been thwarted in his attempts to sign players such as James McClean and Matt Ritchie.
Shaqiri did have a decent World Cup with Switzerland but could not make it to the quarter-finals after a loss at the hands of Sweden.
The 26-year-old has a release clause of around £12m after the Potters were relegated and the player has stated that he would want to make a return to the Premier League.
Shaqiri would be a fantastic addition to the side and if it means throwing in a loan signing to bring the 26-year-old to Anfield, we should go ahead with it.
The report claims that Rowett wants to bring in a couple of wingers and a centre-back. We could send out some of our youngsters to get some playing time, such as Harry Wilson or even Ben Woodburn to the bet365 stadium.
While Stoke might not have a lot of power in the deal if we do pay the release clause, we should be looking to get a lot more out of the deal and sending a couple of players out is not a bad idea.
However, we should ensure that the players start a set number of games to gain some valuable experience, otherwise, they would just sit on the bench and the deal would be futile.
